Global Scholars Speaking at R.I. convention in Toronto

Isis Mejias and Anja Nikolova spoke at the Rotary International Convention in Toronto last week.

Global Scholars Isis Mejias and Anja Nikolova spoke in the General Sessions of the Convention last week in front of 14,000 Rotarians at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

District 5890 funded Isis' scholarship and the first year of Anja's scholarship to Yale University.

Five Districts funded her second year- 5770, 5840, 5980, 5770 and 7980.

Isis who was sponsored by our Humble Club and has spoken here on several occasions works for Forum Energy Technology in Houston as Sales/Process Manager Production Equipment. Isis first came to our attention when, as a member of Engineers Without Borders, she visited Maseno , Kenya and developed a Global Grant sponsored by our club. Isis is from Venezuela.

In June Anja joined LVMH -Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy Group in operations sustainability in San Francisco. Anja is from Skopje Macedonia.

Thank you Andy Smallwood for introducing me to Murat Celik in Istanbul who recommended Anja for the scholarships.

Water Supply System in Vietnam

Through a Rotary global grant, our clubs in Singapore provided a water supply system and environmental sanitation benefiting 1,252 people in 316 households in Vietnam. http://on.rotary.org/2ND2pP4

School Supplies - Organization & Distribution

Good morning!

We have volunteer opportunities at Kingwood UMC gym available on Thurs Aug 9th (organizing their school supplies) and Fri Aug 10th (distributing supplies). Times for both days is 8:30am - noon. Address is 1799 Woodland Hills Dr., KW 77339 I will have sign-up sheets at our meetings starting on Wed July 25th. Food and beverages are provided.

Note: This is a family-friendly event - children age 5 and above can participate in the fun and know the great feeling of helping others!
